Letter on Monday, September 29th

Happy Monday!

So transfer calls were this Saturday... It was rough.  We were thinking we'd both be staying here but Sister Cook is being transferred.  Its super bittersweet. I'm SO happy I'm staying because I LOVE everyone here and there is just so much more work to do but I'm also heartbroken Sister Cook is leaving. I just love her!

We had an incredible last week together though.  ___ who we met last Sunday is progressing so quick.  She is just SO pure in heart.  She is just soaking everything up.  Weve met with her almost every day and she came to the Women's General Broadcast meeting Saturday.  She loves it all and just keeps saying, "this makes so much sense! Why doesn't everyone accept this?!"  She even went to the store right after to buy a journal so she could write down everything that she is learning.  She really is just a miracle.  I feel so blessed to have met her- Its such a blessing to be teaching her.

Katie came to church on Sunday as well.  She loves the Book of Mormon and has had so many great experiences with the missionaries and with her neighbors who are members.  She is really progressing.  She is taking us out for steak dinner tonight before Sister Cook leaves.  We just love Katie so much.  We also taught her mom Lynne this week too.  There family is really so dear to my heart and its been such a joy to watch them start to embrace the gospel.

Another of our investigators Jane committed to baptism this past week.  She has had such a hard life with abuse and I just know she is going to find so much peace from the gospel.  I'm just so grateful for all the incredible people we are working with and I know that we were led to them.  I feel so blessed that I get to stay and continue to watch them progress.  I'm truly grateful.  I hope you've all had a great week.  We are off to go finish saying goodbyes.  I love you all!

Letter on Monday Sept 22

Hello World,

Wow... I don't even know where to begin with this week.  It was an
incredible week. So many miracles and blessings.. but also some crazy
days. Lets see... where to begin.  I guess I'll start off with letting
you know that I bowled a high score of 54 bowling last week for P-day.
Yep... I'm that good.

But Anyways this week started off pretty crazy... On Tuesday our phone
decided it didn't want to work anymore, our car got a nail in the tire
and we found out last minute we were having sister wide exchanges that
night.  So of course in the middle of the chaos I have to leave to the
Hamptons for exchanges and left Sister Cook with all the dirty work...
whoopsies.  Missionary work is a little difficult without a phone, car
or companion.

After exchanges Grandma Lugo- one of our favorite members wanted to
take all 4 of us sisters out to eat. So there we are just eating our
dinner when Grandma Lugo screams OH NO! She looks at me and smiles and
one of her teeth was completely gone... she swallowed it!  Poor Gma
Lugo.  It was just a day full of broken things.  Broken phone, broken
car, broken GPS and top it all off with Grandmas broken tooth.

On Thursday our Mission President came out to Terryville to interview
one of our investigators for baptism.  The whole day was incredible.
Our Mission President is one inspired man.  Sister Cook and I were
able to teach a lesson on baptism with him and then he interviewed
Melissa for baptism.  Half way through the lesson she runs in and
collects all the bottles of alcohol in her house and proceeds to pour
them all down her drain screaming, "I'm repenting, I don't want this
stuff in my house!" It was awesome! After the interview we all met
outside where President Calderwood said with tears in his eyes, This
family NEEDS the gospel.  Melissa and Jessica NEED this in their
lives.  The things they have experienced we do not understand and it
is NOT their fault.  It was a powerful experience and I'm so grateful
President Calderwood was willing to drive a couple hours to help us
out.

Saturday was a big day for us. We were able to take Sister Mcgibney to
the temple. Sitting with her in the Celestial room was one of my
favorite moments on my mission so far.  We LOVE her so much and are so
happy she FINALLY was able to make it back to the temple.

We really just had so many miracles this week. Yesterday we were able
to teach Amy- a single mom that the Elders found while knocking doors
with President Calderwood (It was the first door they knocked and they
had a kneeling prayer with her).  The lesson was amazing.  Amy is SO
pure in heart.  We didn't even get halfway through the lesson and we
just felt so prompted to invite her to prepare for baptism.  She
accepted and is preparing to be baptized the 8th of November.  She
offered the most sincere heartfelt prayer at the end of our lesson.
It was just another miracle this week to add to the list.  This is the
Lords work and I feel so grateful to be laboring her in the vineyard
with Him.  Its SUCH a blessing.  I love and miss you all but I'm so
grateful for the privilege this is.  I hope you all have a great week.
We find out about transfers Saturday so I'll have news next Monday :)

Love Ya!

Letter on Monday, September 15th

Hello World!

Is it really Monday again?! Craziness.  I just need time to slow down
for a second.  I can't believe I've almost been out 9 months.  Its
gone by WAY too fast. These week was a good one.  It was pretty busy
with Mega zone conference and a few other meetings we had but through
the grace of God we were able to see everyone we wanted to see.

We have a few progressing investigators right now that we are working
with.  Our mission president is actually coming out on Thursday to
meet with two of them in preparation for baptism.  We are so grateful
and excited for his insights.  Mega Zone Conference was great and we
learned so much.  We are just excited to apply everything we learned
to our work.  Life is Good.

So lets see... We had some great moments this week... Like when all we
had a calendar confusion and all 3 sets of missionaries showed up for
the same dinner appointment... whoopsies.  That was awkward.  Or when
our GPS led us to the wrong address.  Ha We were sitting at a Panera
bread for like 30 minutes waiting for a member and finally we were
like maybe we are at the wrong panera bread??... So turns out we are
in the totally wrong town 30 minutes away.  Moral of the story...
always check your GPS.

We work with a lot of less actives here Annie, a less active we've
been working with since we first got here finally came to church
yesterday.  One of my favorite parts of being a missionary is being
able to testify of the blessings that come from keeping the
commandments.  I'm so grateful for the blessings I've seen in my life
and I'm grateful that Annie chose to trust that she would be blessed
as she kept the sabbath day holy.  I love being a missionary!

Hope you all have a great week!

Letter on Monday, August 18th

Hey Everyone!

So we were blessed with a crazy busy week this week.  It was a
miracle.  We were honestly a little worried at the beginning of the
week because most of the people we are working with were headed out of
town...Something about this thing called summer vacation?? Does that
exist?! My mission veil has already made me forget... but anyways...
we decided to leave our week in Gods hands and he definitely filled it
better than we could have.  We were so blessed.

With a busy schedule sometimes you are have to change into your
prostelyting clothes after doing service and realize you've forgotten
your shoes :/ This may or may not have happened this week....Luckily
Sister Cook and I are excellent problem solvers and we stopped by the
local thrift town to picked me up some nice velvet slip ons.... the
kind that you'd most likely see your 90 yr old grandma wearing👵... Or
maybe the man behind the counter at 7 eleven.  It was definitely a
win-win situation.  We made it to our appointment on time and I found
myself some sweet new kicks! 👌

There was the craziest storm here on Wednesday.  There were cars just
floating in the streets.  No big deal right? Well we went down to work
out in our basement Wednesday morning and our basement had decided
that it wanted to be a swimming pool. Water was seeping in from our
window. So we call Deb... the woman who lives below us and she comes
down to take a look.... decides she doesn't think the window is all
the way closed and decides to open it... BAD IDEA.  This FLOOD of
water comes pouring in and Deb just goes "GOOD MORNIN DEB!" Maybe you
had to be there but it was just an awesome moment.

Speaking of awesome moments... this week Sister Cook and I passed a
church bus while driving our car.  Of course we had to take up the
opportunity to let them know we were doing Gods work too.  So we made
sure to honk and give some good waves and they just looked at us like
we were crazies... but hey... it was awesome anyways.

Sunday was the saddest day. Delia our investigator was planning to
come to church with us.  We had arranged a ride for her and she
facebooked and called us a few times Saturday to make sure we were
still planning on it.  She was SO excited.  So we get there on Sunday
to pick her up and her aid comes out to tell us that she'd gotten up
early to get ready for church 💁 💅👰 She was all ready in her
prettiest dress when she started puking.  So we went in to see her and
there she was, still in her church shoes with her stalkings on just
crying because shes so sick of being sick and just wanted to come to
church.  Poor Delia... stupid satan.

Anyways that was our week.  We get to join Elizabeth for her first
time to the temple this Saturday and are taking Sister Gonzales, a
returning member to do sealings.  We are super excited for them and so
grateful we get to join them.  I love the temple!

Hope you all have a great week.  If a church bus passes make sure you
atomic elbow the steering wheel!

Miss You!!

Letter on Monday, August 11th

Hey Everyone!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes! It was the best birthday EVER! We
had way too much fun.  Its really not missionary work... its
missionary fun.  I'm so cheesy :D Don't cha miss me?! :D

We totally crashed a party on Saturday.  Obviously I had to crash a
party on my birthday since I couldn't have my own ;) So long story
short, we were out knocking and we came to a house that has a sign on
the door saying something like "mmmbye2014 party- just come around
back" So we knock the door and then i'm like wait a sec... are they
having a party? Is this sign for today?! :D So the mom comes to the
door, assumes we are there for the party and waves us to the backyard.
So what do we do?? We crash the party of course.  Luckily there were
only like 3 high school kids back there playing video games. Can you
imagine if it would have been some raging party?! We were dying.  The
best part is we totally got the guys contact info for the Bayshore
missionaries. He said we are welcome back anytime.  It was probably
one of my favorite experiences thus far on the mission.  Leave it to
the mormon missionaries to crash your party.

Another awesome moment this week was when Sister Cook and I went to
help the elders out at a service project.  They gave us the assignment
of trimming the 8 foot hedges. Luckily Sister Cook is a beast and I
was able to resurrect my cheerleading skills and we trimmed the
hedge...as one big Siamese missionary. It was quite a sight... I'm
sorry you missed.  The pictures really wont do it justice.  We are
awesome.

It was Elizabeths 60th birthday on Wednesday so we had a joint
scripture study/ birthday party with Elizabeth, Sister McGibney and
Sister Lopez. I love those girls so much. It was so fun to celebrate
with them and then discuss something so dear to our hearts. I love the
members here!

The work here is going great! We are working with quite a few less
actives to help them get back to the temple. We get to go do baptisms
with a couple of them on the 23rd and one of the sisters we've been
working with will be getting sealed to her husband who passed away.
It's been such a privilege to help them prepare. Also the other day we
found 3 new investigators. One of them is a new mom with some family
members who are LDS, the other a nurse practitioner, and the last is a
young guy who works 2 jobs and said he could "use some Jesus in his
life". We've already seen so many miracles here and I feel so blessed.
Missions are the best!!

Well I hope you all have a great week! I miss you and love you!

Love your anciently old arthritis stricken sister,

Sister Robertson

Letter on July 28th

Hey Everyone!

Another great week here in Terryville.  This week we had our ward
missionary movie night.  We watched Ephraims rescue and we had a great
turn out! Sister Cook and I were in charge of the photo booth and I
must say we did a dang good job ;) We got some great pics of everyone!

We had some funny moments this week.  My favorite happened during our
ward correlation meeting.  Right as we started discussing our
investigators our ward correlator's wife screams, "--- THERE IS POOP ON
THE KITCHEN FLOOR!" No... it wasn't a missionary who pooped on the
floor... good guess though.  Ha her son is potty training and decided
he would rather poop (sorry mom... I mean messy...) on the floor than
in the toilet right in the middle of our meeting.  Made our meeting
pretty exciting.

Guess what else?! I mowed my first lawn this week! Yep... I'm not
joking... I'd never mowed a lawn before Saturday.  Don't worry we got
it all on video and everything.  It was a big day.  I only ran over
two big tree stumps too.  Haha we were helping Sister------
neighbor --- and she was out there just cracking up watching me.
I'm a pro now though.  Who would have thought I'd mow my first yard in
New York right?!

Our investigator --- came to church yesterday.  She is blind and so
her service dog came too.  She is the sweetest woman on the planet.
We are working with some amazing people and I feel so blessed to have
had them come into my life.  Missions are awesome! Sorry this is a
short letter this week.  We are headed to go play basketball.. yep...
basketball.  Who would have though I'd become a baller on my mission
too? Not I!  I hope you all have the best week EVER!

Miss you all!

Love, Sister Robertson

Letter on July 21st

Hey Everyone!

Greetings from the promise land.... TERRYVILLE! I was transferred to
the Island last week and I LOVE it. My new companion is Sister Cook
and she is from Cokeville Wyoming...total population 500.  So its a
good things shes starting her mission out here on the island :) She is
great. We've already had so many adventures out here.

Speaking of adventures... last night we knocked a members door on
accident. Awesome right? They opened the door and we saw them all
sitting together in the living room and we were like wait a second...
we know you! It was awesome.  Definitely something that only happens
when you are blinded into an area. Pretty funny.

Also we've had some funny excuses lately knocking doors lately.  My
favorite was, "Sorry I had a birthday party a few days ago and I'm
really tired" Who gets a birthday party hang over for a whole week? Oh
the adventures of finding.

The ward here is awesome.  They are so willing to help us out... and
feed us... holy cow.  Haha Sister Cook and I keep joking that the
members here are really helping us grow.... not just spiritually but
physically too... in width. There is the cutest grandma in our ward,
Grandma Lugo.  On our first Sunday here kids STORMED the relief
society room after church.  I was like what in the world is
happening?! Turns out Grandma Lugo brings her treat bag every Sunday
to give the kids treats.  Its so awesome! I love the ward here and can
tell we are going to see miracles the next few transfers working
together.

Well I hope you all had a great week.  Happy 24th of July!

Love, Sister Robertson
