Letter on May 19th

Hey Everyone!!

I can't believe another week has passed! Where does the time go?!
Missions create some of the most interesting experiences.  I just love
it.  This week on our way to district meeting we passed a man who's
Jazzy had stopped working.  It was so sad, he was just stuck in the
middle of the road trying and trying to get it to work. We ended up
being super late to district meeting because we were helping push him
to safety with a homeless man named Diamond.  It was pretty comical,
I love missions!

The highlight of our week was our ward Talent show.  Sister _____and
her kids were able to come and they had a blast.  One of the ward
members dressed up as Elsa from frozen and sang "Let it go" from
frozen.  Everyone loved it.  She invited all the kids to come up and
sing with her after and so of course all the elders went up to join.
It was awesome. They had a fund raiser for girls camp where they
auctioned off desserts.  It was super successful.  There were cakes
selling for over 200 dollars.  We have an awesome ward.  I am going to
be SO sad to leave it.

On Friday we were able to go visit a less active in the projects.
When we got there she was feeling super sick.  I was able to sit and
talk with her about her symptoms and had her check her blood sugar.
Turns out it was like 250 so she took some insulin and started feeling
better.  It was just cool to be able to use a little bit of my
nursing.  I miss it sometimes!  Well that was my week :) I hope you
all had a good one.  I miss you all but am so grateful for you
support.

Letter on May 12th

Hey Everyone!!

This week was amazing.  Saturday was the best day ever. We witnessed
so many miracles.  I was on exchanges in Rego Park with Sister Mckee
and we decided to go stop by a less actives home.  She wasn't home and
right as we got out of the car it started raining super hard. We were
SOAKING.  Sister Mckee looked at me and said, " Sister Robertson this
could be a miracle moment... maybe its raining because there is a door
on this street we need to knock and they will only let us in if we are
wet!" So we said a quick prayer to be guided, turned the street and
knocked. The very first door we knocked let us in! A Chinese woman
Sophia answered and right away she told us she had been searching and
praying to find a church.  Say what?! It was the SO cool.  The best
part was right as we were leaving the rain stopped. It was pretty
incredible.

Then that same day... Like 4 hours later Sister Board and I went to
visit a less active. She wasn't home but I felt super prompted to make
the 40 minute trip out to see her so I was a little confused. As we
were walking back we ran into a woman we talked to earlier in the week
on the bus, Athira. She recognized us and asked if we had time to
teach her right then. We taught the restoration and it was the most
incredible lesson. She just moved here two months ago after graduating
from Duke and has been working in the hospital. She got teary and told
us shed had a rough week and was so glad she ran into us.  We gave her
a Book of Mormon and that night she texted us saying shed been reading
some and asked what to wear to church. Such a neat experience.  Sister
Board and I have had a permagrin ever since.  We are so excited to
start working with her.  This really is the Lords work and I feel so
privilege to be able to participate in it and witness miracles.  I
have never been happier.  I love being a missionary.  I miss you all
and hope you have a great week!

Love, Sister Robertson

Letter on Monday,

Hello!

I can't believe its already May! Where does the time go?! This week
was a wet one.  It rained a lot.  We went to visit Annie on Wednesday
night after trekking through the rain and so my skirt was soaked.
When we got there Khalil (her 2 year old son) comes up to me, touches
my skirt and says, "Mister Robertson did you have an accident?!" It
was too funny.

Sister Board and I have a new investigator! His name is Micheal and we
found him knocking.  His mom answered the door and told us her son was
sick but to come back another night.  So we went back assuming we'd
visit her but when we got there she started taking us back to her sons
room and making his bed (her son is like 30).  I was like oh no... she
thinks we came over here to like go on a date with her son.  But No...
turns out he's a former investigator.  Had all the discussions in 2011
just never was baptized.  Pretty crazy right? We've had two lessons
with him already and they've gone pretty well.  He'd already read some
of the Book of Mormon when we went back to see him. It's exciting!

On Saturday we helped the ward our with the Primary Activity. Sister
Jiang and her kids came!  It was awesome, the kids were SO excited.  I
just love that family.  I'm so excited for Mother's Day Sunday :) I
can't wait to talk to you! I hope you all have a great week and I'll
talk to you soon!

Love, Sister Robertson

Letter on April 28th

Hey Everyone!

Another great week in Astoria! We have been doing a lot of finding
(mostly knocking) and saw a lot of miracles this week. Last Sunday we
were knocking and met Nahum, a 28 year old from Guatemala . Turns out
his dad's family was LDS and he remembered going to church with them
10 or so years ago. We gave him a Book of Mormon and he told us he's
been praying for something like this to happen to him. Super cool
experience. He is really interested and came to the YSA FHE with us
Friday.  We passed him over to the YSA sisters but I'm excited to
watch him progress!

Church this week was awesome. It's been fun to watch the missionaries
and members start uniting more.  We had 3 different members come up to
us at church to give us referrals. Without us even asking. It's crazy.
I was like is this real life?! I love our ward :D

We have an appointment with Kate this week- the nurse from the
Philipines.  I'm excited to look through my nursing books to help her
study for the NCLEX.  Its been a while and I'm feeling preeetttyy
rusty.  Its so cool to look back on the week and see how we have been
lead to people who are prepared to hear the gospel.  The Lord is so
involved in this work.  I feel so privilege that I get a front row
seat to watch the miracles that are happening here.  There really are
SO many. I love missionary work and being a missionary :D  Miss you
all so much!

Love, Sister Robertson

Letter on April 21st

Hey Everyone!

Happy Easter! So i survived my first week of training... barely.  Ha
just kidding! My new companion is Sister Board and she is awesome! She
is such a hardworker, I'm stoked :) I can tell we are going to have a
great 3 months together. She is from Kansas and is a twin. Also 4
members of her family will be serving missions together soon.  Crazy
huh?!

The work is going well.  Today a member invited us over to meet her
non member friend.  It was great.   Exciting to see ward members
involved in missionary work.  Also Friday we were able to have a
lesson with the whole Jiang family since the kids had spring break.
We taught them about the armor of god and had them put on cardboard
armor.  They LOVED it.  They were so cute.   We love the Jiangs.

Well I'm sorry to say I'm out of time but I'll write more next week.
Here are some pictures to make up for it :) Love you and miss you all!

Love,
Sister Robertson

Letter on April 14th

Hey Everyone!

This week is transfers and The Lord has called me to... BERMUDA! Can
you believe it? Just kidding... I'm sorry... I had to.  Really The
Lord has called me to train a new missionary so I'll be staying here
in Astoria.  I'm sad to Sister Joseph go but excited to introduce my
new companion to the mission.  Tomorrows a big day :)

We also had stake conference this week and as of yesterday we have a
new stake in the NYNYS mission.  Its super exciting! In 20 years 3
wards have become 2 stakes.  The Lord really is hastening his work.
The Saturday evening session was focused on missionary work and they
had a few people come up and share their conversion stories.  The
spirit was so strong and I feel so grateful that i get to participate
in the work here in New York.

So guess what else happened this week! I called a women that we had
contacted on the street a few weeks ago.  Her name is Kate, she is
phillipino and just had a baby.  We talked for a while, but when I
asked her if we could come stop by she told me probably not for at
least a month because she is SUPER busy.  So I asked what with and
guess what she said... taking the NCLEX.  Crazy Right? I guess she was
a nurse in the Philippines and failed the test already so she is super
nervous.  I was like well... I think i can help you with that haha.
I'm excited to go help her study this week :)

Anyways till next week.  I miss you all! XOXO

Love,
Sister Robertson
